I worked at the Arts Centre in Aberystwyth in the Marketing department for two weeks; 18th July – 29th July 2011. I really enjoyed my time there and it was nice to work in a small team. I assisted with market research, data analysis and audience data capture. I also helped to fully update the website with details of the new season and updated the social networking site. I assisted in the distribution and display of print and proof-read the draft of the new season brochure. Finally, I helped with the direct mail and mail merge. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and I have been invited back – which I may well just do!

Selection Event 9th July 2011
On the 9th July I attended a ‘selection event’ for the 2012 Olympic games makers. It consisted of various talks and then an interview. One of the talks was given by people who work in press ops; the department I’ve applied for; already for the Olympics and the way they described the job sounded amazing! I don’t think it matters where in the country I am placed, if I am placed, because it will be a brilliant opportunity wherever I am.
The interview went OK, I think. I am never very good at telling how interviews have gone, but I seemed to answer all the questions well and the interviewer seemed pretty happy with the answers I gave. It’s difficult because I don’t have that much experience in the field, but then again they do need people to work at the bottom, so hopefully. Press Ops is the second biggest department (second to event services) so that is another bonus, and I’ve already beaten 20,000-30,000 other applicants just to get an interview. I feel that I got everything across I wanted to in the interview and I have a wide enough range of experiences to cover what was asked of me, plus I can give across the impression of a bucket-load of enthusiasm!
I really hope I get it, but if not I gave it my best and that’s all I can do.

Selection Event
I’ve been asked to attend a selection event on 9th July 2011 at Warwick University. This is for the 2012 Olympics and my application to be a ‘Games Maker’. The interview is going to be an hour and a half long and I presume it will involve both group and individual interviews.

Making the car advert – day seven
Date: 1st May 2011
Location: Final edit
On a second look at the photos, they can be worked with. The advert itself did not need any further editing, apart from adding the edited photo to the end. It is now complete.
Making the car advert – day six
Date: 30th April 2011
Location: Edit
On looking at the shots I captured during the past five days, I was quite pleased with what had been accomplished. Unfortunately the wind has effected some of the shots but nothing major. The editing had been a smooth process. The only problems came with the track, but it was a problem I am used to so it was no cause for great concern. I even managed to find a new function on my programme, which helped a great deal in editing the last video clip.
Whilst the videos are good, the photographs are not so. Due to the car park by the beach being quite heavily populated, it waas impossible to find a space on the car park where I could take a photograph without another car being in the shot. This makes me unhappy with the results and they are very difficult to work with. However I will look at them with a fresh perspective tomorrow and hope they work out ok.
Making the car advert – day five
Date: 29th April 2011
Location: Ynyslas Beach, near Borth, Dyfed, Wales
Shoot time: 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4pm
Risk assessment form: 29.4.11
The day started at 10.30am on Ynyslas beach near Borth. The beach was surprisingly populated despite the weather. It was overcast and rather windy. The part of the beach used has very few people on. The filming went well, having a good free run of the beach and the only downside was the potholes in the sand! Another good location for filming, especially with the river and mountain views alongisde the sands.
