2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 3 years to get that many views.

What’s your favorite month? Why?

May 🙂

May because it’s my birthday and it’s spring. May is usually lovely weather and it’s when spring is about to turn to summer and you have all the summer months ahead of you. Everyone starts to go out more and do more things and the nights are shorter and the days longer.

Would you rather be a food critic, a book critic, or a film critic?

I love food, I like books and I really like films. But I don’t think anyone takes much notice of food critics, or book critics. People just tend to find things out for themselves. Everyone has different tastes in both food and books. However people, despite liking different films, seem to listen to film critics. And film critics really annoy me. They judge people’s scriptwriting, directing, acting etc without being able to do it themselves, or most probably, been unsuccessful at doing it themselves. Why do people listen to film critics? They are so arrogant and think their opinion is superior to everyone else’s and that everyone’s should watch what they say. If I were a film critic then I could offer alternative reviews to those pretentious, conceited critics and the geeks-stuck-in-their-bedroom types and give a proper opinion instead of acting as if I hate the world and everyone in it. Besides, if I were a food critic I would gain my own body weight in a week…

You get to make a guest appearance on any TV show of your choice. What’ll it be?

So many programmes, so many choices. Throughout the years, basically since I could see, I’ve loved many television programmes. If you asked me this question when I was five, the answer would without a doubt have been ‘Playdays’. This amazed me and from the moment it began, had my whole attention. I would have loved to have interacted with all the different characters and watched the magic pen. And I would have loved to wait to find out which way the story would go.

Now it’s a different choice, there are so many genres of television programmes before you even get started, let alone which one to choose after that. My teens have brought me so many programmes; other soaps than Coronation Street, Footballers’ Wives, Cutting It, I’m A Celebrity, Life On Mars, The Inbetweeners, Ant & Dec, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Shameless and so many more. Each one has meant something different to me and symbolises a different part of my life.

I think out of all of them, there are two I cannot choose between; Coronation Street and Waterloo Road. Coronation Street simply because it reminds me of my life, I have watched it since I can remember so to me it would be amazing to be a part of such an institution and something that has been such a part of my life. If I see a clip of an old scene or storyline, I can remember how old I was and what my life was like at the time. It takes me back to how I felt and what I had learnt and who I was to become. So to make an appearance would collide fiction with reality.

Waterloo Road on the other hand, would give me a chance to go back to school. School, especially year 11, was a prominant year of my life. I took my GCSE’s which was a pinnacle of my years of education and at the time seemed the most important and challenging time of my life. Year 11 was fantastic, in the last year of school and being in the top groups you can build an alliance with your teachers and you seem to “get away” with more than you did. There was prom and the long summer to look forward to and the excitement of starting college. Friends are there all the time and we did so many things throughout the year and had the best times and memories ever. Everything is so important and everything matters to you. Year 11 is full of freedom, but you still have the safe environment and protection of school. So Waterloo Road for me would be perfect as it would remind me of these times.
